Family Reunion 2011

There is absolutely nothing I love more than the Draper family reunion. I'm so glad I got to go this year even though I was a complete baby and missed Zac like crazy the whole time. It's strange to be there without my grandpa there in his "boonie" hat but it was still a fantastic time. Traditionally there is a theme for the week and this time was by far the best, Spongebob Squarepants - a family favorite :)

Alicia & Kelton

Johnny loved the "swords" or extra large q-tips or whatever you call those things...

Tracy & I got to do a lot of catching up... SO nice! I love her :)

Uncle Randy & Jaidee

Dad & Jaidee with the Spongebob she made him out of pearler beads

Grandma with Jaidee

Ashllyn stayed squeaky clean the entire time we were there. No surprise.

Tani & Michelle or Laughy & Giraffey! They both announced babies on the way while we were there and I couldn't be more excited for them!

Cody playing with glow necklaces.

Do I not have the most adorable grandma ever?!

My New Love

This summer I found an old Canon 35mm film camera on Craigslist for $10 that I couldn't pass up. Here are some of my favorite shots from my first roll of film. I have a lot to learn about shooting in film but I love the look & hopefully someday can develop my own shots!

Independence Day.

Just so we're clear, I celebrate Independence Day, not the 4th of July. The 4th of July is just a date, Independence Day is the celebration of our freedom, our liberty, and the beautiful country that I get to call mine. When I tell people that they usually think I'm nuts, or some crazy stuck up American, but what they don't know is how much I love the United States of America. I am so patriotic. I support my troops, I love the veterans, and most of all, I love my freedom. I will call it the 4th, but I want everyone to remember the real reason for fireworks and bbq's, ya know?

OK, so now that that's out of the way, on to the festivities. I am 100% positive that Idaho Falls has spoiled me in the way of 4th of July celebrations. Every year the fireworks there are GIGANTIC and loooong and set to patriotic music which makes it THAT much more special, but in the past couple years I've discovered that not many other places are like that. Someday I'll take Zac home to experience a real Independence Day.

For this year, we both had to work so we just went over to a barbecue at Brian and Emily's house and then played with some poppers and sparklers. I mostly enjoyed being able to spend the evening with this handsome man... ;)

(the white thing on his collar is a dryer sheet... word on the street is that those keep mosquitoes away.)

My contributions to the BBQ were these lemon blueberry/raspberry cupcakes in the shape of a flag. This is my new favorite flavor of cupcake, just so it's out there.

Zac made "Krump Mama Salsa" all by himself, his exact words when I asked why he wouldn't let me help were "Because someday if you die and I really need salsa, I'll be able to make it myself." Oh, good.

Emily's sparkler heart!

I love how excited kids get with sparklers! I remember it being my favorite part of our home firework shows when I was younger. This is Ashlynn, Taidan, and Brynlee with theirs. :)

And their circles! Precious little children! I love them!

So basically, we had a fabulous day. I gotten eaten alive by mosquitoes at then end but I'll survive I'm sure. Happy Independence Day, everyone! Hope yours were all fantastic as well!

Once Again.

Another move! Seriously. This is our 5th now in 14 months of marriage. But who's counting?

This time we just moved a couple streets from our other apartment, which was nice, but we still had to pack up everything and now unpack it, which is my least favorite thing probably ever.

Here are some quick photos, it's just empty right now but since we plan on being here longer that just a few months I feel like I can actually decorate and get cozy. We'll see how it goes!

What. Up.

Hola! My name is Amy and I never blog. Here are some pictures, at the request of the wonderful Ashley Hanson.

A quick recap:
+We've been married for a year and I made delicious salmon to celebrate.
+Making bread is actually pretty easy and I'm hooked on it.
+I started my new job at the boot grill. And I wear wranglers. Yee haw.
+We picnicked and Zachary is cute. And I love him.
+There were some pretty killer deals on drinks at Safeway so the ratio of drinks to food in our fridge is waaaay off.
+The weather here is gorgeous.
+An egg was stubborn and wouldn't come out of the carton.
+Our little sisters are beautiful AND smart, they are both seminary graduates and will both be graduating high school so soon!

The end.

Currently

This is what my brain looks like.

Just kidding, that's just what my new kitchen looks like. ha! We FINALLY got our apartment here in Greeley (after living in hotels and basements for almost 4 weeks!) I'm so excited to be able to have all of our stuff and to decorate a new place!

So basically right now is just a transition... moving into the apartment, Zac's summer selling season just started, I'm starting some classes at the local community college (art classes! YES!) and I'm going to be looking for a part time job around here. So much new-ness! We did summer sales last year but I feel like this year will be different, in a very good way.

Here's to a new adventure! :)

Swoon.

Months ago my mother gave me a book to read, telling me that her book club had read it and she thought I may like it. I died. The book was Water for Elephants and it was spectacular. I won't lie, there were a couple of parts I wouldn't recommend for everyone and they made me blush but they are easy to skip, like I did. However, when I head that there was a movie version coming out, I died again. I am so excited! The trailers are beautifully done and lead me to believe that I will approve of the film version. Hooray! Just one more week!

Dumb circle.

So last night after I posted that last little diddly doo, I looked at my stat counter and I was amazed by how many people really do look at my blog. But I always feel silly posting anything because I feel like I'm just talking to nobody... So it's this dumb circle in my head, I don't blog because nobody ever says hi or comments but then I see that people really do read it, or at least stop by it, and I get excited to post something but then I feel silly again.

I know this is madness.

Like I need validation to post on my own blog that is just supposed to be about me and my newlywedness. Ha. But for reals, if you're reading this, make me feel less like I'm talking to nobody. I want to know the people that are reading my ridiculous thoughts. Heck, maybe I would even start posting more. And probably make it more interesting.

So... hi all you blog creepers. Just say hi back.

Obsessed.

I don't really fancy myself a master chef but I need to show you a little something. A little something that Emily and I might be obsessed with. Like, we've made this probably 4 times in the past 2 weeks. Mmm. Emily has dubbed it "Toasted Tuscan Salad" because it had no name, except delicious.

Start with a loaf of sourdough bread. If I were an exact sort of person I would say that these are about 1 inch pieces but really, just cut it into bite sized chunks. Lay it out evenly on a cookie sheet and toast it under the broiler.

I had to add this picture because I'm incredibly proud of how lightly toasted these pieces are. Usually, we forget them in the oven and they burn a little (or a lot, sometimes. whoops.)

Cut up some tomatoes, fresh mozzarella , and FRESH basil! Again, just bite sized chunks, whatever floats your boat.

Toss it all with some sea salt and good olive oil (it really does matter if it's a nicer kind of oil, we weren't as impressed when we used the really cheap stuff) and devour it all. Because that's what we do. But for real, this stuff is so delicious and summer-y it makes me so anxious for fresh veggies and herbs this summer!

P.S. We moved! (Our 4th move in our 11 months of marriage.) I swear I will post about it, but food was more important.

lonely.

I miss this handsome guy tonight.

He is in Colorado for the week and after only a day I miss him like crazy. It's weird how I never notice how much I love having him by me when I sleep until he's gone.

Anyways, enough mushy nonsense. You get it, I love him a lot.

Here is something that will make you smile. Or cry. That's what I do. Because I can't imagine missing somebody THAT much.
